What if, when Jesus spoke these words recorded in Matthew 10:29, He was holding a fallen sparrow to illustrate His point? And what if that little sparrow had a backstory of his own? What if he had fears and struggles and victories that were as big as his mention in scripture?

Meet Gideon, a simple sparrow with a big purpose, although he doesn’t know it yet. Born frail, in the shadow of his siblings, Gideon fears growing up. But an encounter with the Light changes everything.

The Sparrow’s Song is a children’s chapter book, ideally read aloud with a grown-up, that is a fictional account of Jesus’ famous Matthew 29 sparrow. Gideon proves there is no such thing as an insignificant life, and that we can be reminded of this every time we hear a sparrow’s song.
